e‑Handoff is an online system that helps doctors, nurses and other clinical workers transfer responsibility for a patient’s care from one provider to another, normally during shift change. This transfer is known as a ‘handoff’ and is prone to communication errors. Handoffs are the weak link in healthcare. CRICO, a large medical malpractice insurer, recently estimated that over 30% of malpractice claims involved faulty communication. e‑Handoff reduces communication errors and helps save patients’ lives, plus reduces hospitals’ malpractice costs.

Their cloud-based, HIPAA-compliant system guides providers into using best communication practices (e.g. I-PASS or SBAR) during handoffs, and allows them to quickly customize handoffs to their particular workflow, without assistance from their IT department.

e‑Handoff pulls in data from EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner and Meditech to save providers from redundant data entry. e-Handoff also helps hospitals capture E&M billing charges that are not caught by their EMR, thereby adding to their revenue cycle.

A structured handoff system is required for accreditation by both The Joint Commission and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

HowToFund is a SaaS company that helps K12 school districts and nonprofits raise money for individual fundraisers, while still keeping the look and feel of their existing website. Each organization has full control of their own fundraising web-page where they can display individual fundraisers, collect donations online, share projects on social media, and keep track of all donation data for record-keeping. At HowToFund, they believe technology can help schools reach their peak level of efficiency. Their software products are designed to support school operations and serve in the best interests of students, parents, administrators, and the community as a whole.

Titan Labs

TitanLabs Designs and builds streak cameras, comb generators and, in time, optomechanical and specialized illumination products. A streak camera can be thought of as a very sophisticated slow motion camera used by scientist and engineers to look at many characteristics of light. Often this light is coming off of fusion and research targets in accelerators and high energy laser labs. A comb generator is a temporal ruler putting out a series of optical pulses at a given frequency to characterize and calibrate streak cameras.

TitanLabs; approach to building streak cameras (informed by our decades of hands on experience and aptitude for out of the box solutions) is to take a close look at everything, and if it can be changed or upgraded to improve performance or make the system easier to use, we make the change. This approach has and will allow us to make their streak cameras time saving, faster, cheaper, more accurate, and less prone to heat induced misalignment.

ARIZ Precision Medicine is developing potentially curative drugs that selectively deliver fatal genetic messages to cancer cells at the right place, the right time and at the right dose -specifically targeting the gene and protein responsible for cancer initiation while at the same time sparing healthy cells. ARIZ combines biological (RNA-based) payloads that target and modify epigenetic drivers of cancer (PRDM family of genes/proteins) with targeted drug delivery systems that recognize cell surface ligands unique to cancer cells. This innovative combination stops the disease initiator, while at same time has lower risk of side effects.

StakeWare® is a leading stakeholder trust measurement platform. Building stakeholder trust is more than a nice idea. It’s a strategic imperative that recognizes the changing dynamics of the digital landscape and the numerous benefits created by proactive engagement. Engagement done well is like a savings fund: The value adds up over time and acts as a cushion in times of reputational or fiscal distress. Companies that are more aware of stakeholder interests are more likely to avoid crises because they are better able to anticipate risks and opportunities.

Managing stakeholder trust is difficult because there are many different stakeholder groups, each with its own particular needs and perspective. StakeWare® offers a contingency framework that identifies which dimensions of trustworthiness are most relevant for which types of organizational stakeholders.

StakeWare first beach-head product focuses on Law Enforcement where we are working to provide a near real-time understanding of the level of trust citizens feel about the Police. Uniquely, they develop state-of-the-art analysis tools that, unlike status quo Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies, are fair and unbiased in their analysis of the opinions across social groups in the community – including the views of minorities, youth, and the socioeconomically disadvantaged. Sociodemographically fair NLP analysis is crucial for police departments who are keen to improve their relations with such groups.

Sonera Magnetics

Sonera Magnetics is developing novel magnetometers to enable low-cost, portable medical diagnostic tools. Information about brain activity is critical to the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of neurological disorders including epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, and Alzheimer’s disease. The most powerful non-invasive imaging technique for brain activity, magnetoencephalograpy, uses machines the size of an MRI, which require liquid helium and magnetic shielding in order to operate. These systems cost upwards of $3 million, with annual operating costs of $250k. Unlike other technologies, Sonera’s sensors can operate at room temperature and in ambient environmental conditions, removing the need for magnetic shielding and cryogenic equipment. This enables a small, portable MEG system that is a fraction of the cost of our competitors.
